How to Remove Windows 10 Update from Your Toolbar

How to Remove Windows 10 Alert from Your Toolbar

Last week, Microsoft decided to activate a popup notification on every patched Windows 7 machine advertising the release of Windows 10. You may have noticed that there is now a Windows icon in your toolbar that keeps reminding you to “reserve your copy” of Windows 10 Free Upgrade. It’s legit and will not stay hidden. The only way to get rid of this Microsoft advertisement is to remove it.

To remove it:

Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Uninstall an update
Search for “KB3035583” and right-click and remove it.

All that update does is nag you about Windows 10. Be sure to hide it in Windows Update as well so that it doesn’t download again when your PC does updates.

As always, if you need help BITS is here!

Happy computing 🙂
